Marcos Souza

Composer of soundtracks, pianist, producer and journalist, Marcos Souza started as a musician at the age of 16, when he paid a tribute to his father, Francisco Mário, a great Brazilian musician. Living in Amsterdam since 2009, Marcos produced concerts by Marcos Sacramento and Leandro Braga at Bimhuis and Roode Bioscoop, gave a seminar about Brazilian music at Codarts and Jazzdag, played piano and showed the movie about his family 3 Blood Brothers at Tropentheater and Roode Bioscoop. He composed the soundtrack to the play “Amor” of the theatre group Munganga, where he played live at Ostadetheater, De Krakeling and Theater Kikker. In Brazil, he made more then 10 soundtracks for movies and documentaries. Since 1988, Marcos has recorded 8 CD’s and has presented his concerts in several cities of Brazil, such as Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Manaus, Belo Horizonte, Brasília… But also abroad: Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Barcelona, Soria, Valencia, Amsterdam, Stockholm and Sttugart. He also produced more than 300 shows of important names from the Brazilian music in his festival in Rio de Janeiro (2000-2009).  Marcos is preparing the soundtrack to a video dance by Paulo Caldas, his 9o album “Dance Improvisation”, a biennale with Dutch and Brazilian musicians to 2011 and as a journalist is manager of the soundtracks online store, Musimagen.  Also Marcos starts in 2010 a master of music at Codarts, Rotterdam.
