Marcio Pereira

Marcio Pereira is a composer, arranger, saxophonist and flautist, having worked in the fields of jazz and popular music in Brazil, Argentina and the United States.
He has performed with musicians such as Hermeto Pascoal, Charlie Rouse, Claudio Roditi, Victor Assis Brasil, Guilherme Vaz, Ray Armando and Antonio Adolfo, and others.
Escort artists of Brazilian popular music such as Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, Johnny Alf, Leni de Andrade, Alaíde Costa, Ney Matogrosso, Toquinho, Emilio Santiago, Pery Ribeiro and many others.
Took saxophone lessons with Paulo Moura and flute lessons with Celso Woltzenlogel, studied harmony, counterpoint, fugue, orchestration and composition with Maestro Guerra Peixe, and participated in many exhibitions and panoramas of composers of contemporary music.
For more than twenty years he worked for TV Globo as a composer/arranger primarily in the television drama area??.
He is currently developing an analysis of old recordings of Brazilian popular music at UNIRIO, at post-doctorate, and teaches at the Graduate Program in Music in the same university.
