David Tygel

David Tygel

David Tygel is a musician, singer, songwriter, arranger, musical director and producer, dedicating more than twenty years to the composition for movies.
Brazilian directors who have worked with David Tygel: Walter Salles, Sérgio Rezende, Philippe Clair, Joseph Joffily Hugo Carvana, Paulo Sergio Almeida, Luis Carlos Lacerda, Antonio Carlos Fontoura, Hoinnef Nelson, etc. David Tygel has won numerous awards in film festivals in Brazil and abroad, highlighting five awards at the Gramado’s Festival and Original Music Award Festival of Gijón, Spain, in 1987.
His filmography includes more than thirty feature films, including: Lamarca - O Homem da Capa Preta, A Child From The South, O Espelho de Carne, A Cor do Seu Destino, O Homem Nú, Leila Diniz, For All, Redescobrimento, Si Tu Vas a Rio, O Homem Pode Voar, Dois Perdidos Numa Noite Suja, Inesquecível.
David Tygel is founder and member of vocal group Boca Livre, a reference in Brazilian music. He was part of the vocal group Momento Quatro, which marked the history of Brazilian popular music to sing “Ponteio” with Edu Lobo, winner music of  Festival da Canção - TV RECORD - 1967. As a player, has in his resumé shows with Francis Hime, Edu Lobo, Milton Nascimento, Tom Jobim, Dori and Nana Caymmi.
As an actor and musical director for the Theatre, was nominated several times for the major prize Shell, working with major Brazilian directors such as Sergio Britto, Maria Clara Machado, Aderbal Freire Filho, Ilo Krugle, Paulo Affonso Grisolli.
In the academic sphere, Tygel studied composition and traditional harmony with Maestro John Neschling, music director and maestro of the Symphonic Orchestra of São Paulo (OSESP) and was pupil of Leonard Bernstein, studied music theory with Esther Scliar at the Pro Arte Rio de Janeiro, Classical guitar with Léo Soares and attended the School of Music Therapy from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. Also courses of Orffe Dalcroze Method at Brazilian Conservatory of Music under the direction of Cecilia Conde.
Tygel is a professor, for five years, at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro teaching Soundtrack for Movies, Movie School at the School of Social Communication. In addition, crosses the country each year and some Latin American capitals, offering courses and conferences for all kinds of audiences and forming new trails to musicians specialized in work with audiovisual.
